COVID-19 Update – Delayed Opening – April 11, 2020
On Friday, April 10th, Governor Phil Scott held a press conference to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic in Vermont and how it relates to the State of Emergency he declared on March 13th. Additionally, on Friday, he issued “Addendum #9”, which extends all earlier Directives & Addenda until May 15th. This includes all provisions of the “Stay Home/Stay Safe” order.
At the moment it appears that Coventry Club will be able to open to its members and seasonal site holders on Saturday, May 16th. It’s important to note that the existing order prohibits members from being onsite prior to May 16th. This would be a violation of the Stay Home/Stay Safe order and violators are subject to fines. Law enforcement agencies across the state have been checking in on lodging facilities to make sure they are in compliance with the executive order. For example, the weekend of March 29th, over 300 facility inspections were completed. Please help us stay in compliance by waiting for the official opening day before arriving on site.
The newest Addendum does allow for lodging facilities, such as campgrounds, to start taking reservations for accommodations after June 15th, with the understanding that this date may be fluid should there be any further extensions to the executive order. No new reservations prior to June 15th will be accepted at this time. We believe that any guests with existing reservations between May 16th and June 15th will be admitted, but such reservations will be subject to any new directives. If you have a reservation during this time, we will contact you should there be any change or cancellation due to these circumstances.
Although our goal is to open as soon as possible, we plan to do so in a responsible way that keeps all of our members and guests safe. We will monitor and comply with all future orders and directives. This may require some flexibility by our members should there be continued social distancing practices or other safety guidelines.
We look forward to seeing everyone soon, and we thank you all for your cooperation during these difficult times. We will provide updates as necessary.
