In an effort to control the spread of invasive and harmful pests, Vermont has restrictions on the transport of camp wood and firewood in state or national forests as well as state parks.
Although they haven’t made it into Vermont, pests such as the Emerald Ash Borer are in all neighboring states and likely to get to Vermont eventually. It is highly recommended to keep the purchase and transport of firewood as local as possible.
Purchasing “heat treated” USDA approved camp firewood is a great option if you are not able to purchase local wood.
